nutrient removal 2007: state of the art |
4-7 March 2007 Website: www.wef.org Submission of abstracts: 13 August 2006 The Water Environment Federation, in cooperation with the IWA Nutrient Removal and Recovery Group, U.S. EPA, and the Chesapeake Water Environment Federation is pleased to announce a Specialty Conference covering the latest research and experience in the design and operation of nutrient removal systems at municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants. Although nutrient removal systems have been operated in many parts of the world for decades, recent developments have focused attention on the limits of technology (LOT) for removing nutrients. Several water quality initiatives around the world are requiring upgrades from conventional biological nutrient removal (BNR) treatment to enhanced nutrient reduction (ENR). This conference will bring together environmental professionals from around the world to discuss and debate the current state of the art for nutrient removal and the parameters that influence technology boundaries. It will examine research, design, and operational issues and also provide a forum for the discussion of policy and management approaches to nutrient control. It will provide valuable information for researchers, regulators, designers, technology developers, municipal agencies, industrial dischargers, and others seeking to understand the full picture of the latest developments and practical experiences on this important topic. Abstracts are being solicited on the following issues and cross-cutting topics related to nutrient removal in wastewater treatment systems: A. Research Issues Several criteria will be used to evaluate the abstracts, one of the most important being whether the results and experiences from the project are available for presentation.
